Cannes — A new collaboration between TED and Japanese public broadcaster NHK is bringing TEDTalks to television for the first time in a series called Super Presentation, which harnesses persuasive ideas to teach English, empower a new generation of independent thinkers, and build hope one year after the Japanese tsunami.
The world-renowned TED is known for creating the preeminent platform for “ideas worth spreading” by bringing together remarkable minds – leading thinkers, adventurers, artists, performers, icons, and educators – to give riveting talks in 18 minutes or less.
NHK is turning TEDTalks into a new language-information opportunity by adding brief studio segments that introduce the speakers, give background information on their subjects, and explain the language. Production is being handled by NHK Educational Corporation, a learning-focused NHK affiliate that produces 60 percent of the broadcaster’s educational programs.
Super Presentation begins airing in Japan on April 12.
