Jakarta – MediaCorp today launched 8 International (8i), an extension of Singapore’s free-to-air Mandarin channel Channel 8, on Indonesian DTH satellite television operator Indovision. The new channel will begin broadcast on 19 November on Channel 151. A 24-hour channel showcasing Chinese dramas with themes revolving around family ties, romance and action, 8i taps on MediaCorp’s library of more than 10,000 hours of Chinese drama content, offering six hours of fresh content daily. Chang Long Jong, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of MediaCorp, said that MediaCorp’s Chinese dramas have been getting increasingly popular and saw this as an opportune time to start such an aggregated channel. 8i will be offered on Indovision’s three basic packages that include a slew of entertainment channels priced between RP149,000 to RP249,000 per month.
