New Delhi – Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific (DNAP) announced the launch of Discovery Channel Tamil in India. A dedicated 24-hour channel in Tamil language, it targets Tamil viewers in Tamil Nadu and the rest of the country. With this launch, DNAP expands its portfolio to seven channels in India – the flagship Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, TLC, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo, Discovery HD World and Discovery Channel Tamil. Commencing from August 15, Discovery Channel Tamil will feature programmes from across a variety of genres – adventure and survival to investigation and technology – scheduled to cater to the preferences of Tamil viewers. Announcing the launch, Rahul Johri, senior vice president and general manager – South Asia, DNAP, said, “The viewership pattern in Tamil Nadu and rest of India is contrasting and demands customized product offerings. Our intensive research with the Tamil Nadu viewers has encouraged us to launch a dedicated new channel in their native language with focused programmings.”
