Asia – February was a record-breaking month for Star World as ratings increased across Southeast Asia thanks to first-run programming of shows like American Idol Season 10, Glee Season 2 and Junior MasterChef since January. The channel’s monthly ratings for Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia have achieved multi-year highs. In Singapore, the channel achieved its highest monthly ratings since May 2009. In Malaysia, Star World ratings were the highest since May 2007, while in Hong Kong, the channel registered its highest monthly ratings since October 2009. The ratings growth also shows an interesting pattern since November 2010, which coincides with the recent rebranding of Star World. The trend reflects how FOX International Channel’s repackaging of STAR World, in combination with the channel’s programming, has successfully captured new, larger audiences.
