Hong Kong/Manila/Singapore – MTV announced plans for the Southeast Asia premiere of Shibuhara Girls, the network’s first reality drama produced in Asia. Created by MTV Networks Japan and based upon four young women who chase their dreams in Tokyo’s fashion and entertainment industries, Shibuhara Girls will debut on MTV S.E.A. on 5 February. Set within the epicentre for Japanese pop culture – Tokyo’s Shibuya and Harajuku – the 12x30min series in Japanese with English subtitles, exposes the hopes, heartaches and struggles of four young women who journeyed there seeking stardom. Against the backdrop of Shibuhara, emotions and dramas unfold as the driven young women navigate the demands of friends, relationships, managers and families on the road to make their mark. MTV Shibuhara Girls is the networks’ first foray into the reality drama format set within the Asian culture and landscape – Tokyo’s Shibuya and Harajuku region is the natural selection being the pop culture hot spot in Asia.
