London/Sydney – Endemol announced the latest international deal for its blockbuster format The Money Drop. Australian broadcaster Channel Nine have commissioned a 10-part run of the high jeopardy game show, premièring later this year. The Million Dollar Drop will be produced by leading production company Southern Star Entertainment, an Endemol company. Created by Endemol UK, The Money Drop made its international debut on Channel 4 in the UK in May 2010. Since then the format has been sold to 13 territories including the USA, Germany, Russia, Spain and Israel and has become a breakout hit in major markets where it has launched. Further deals of major markets will be announced in due course. The Money Drop is a high jeopardy TV game show that can be simultaneously played online at home. Contestants are given their prize at the top of the show – a million in cash. All they have to do is keep hold of it by correctly placing their winnings on the trapdoor displaying the correct answer. If the answer is wrong their money will fall through the floor and be lost forever.
