Singapore – ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) announced a new appointment to its management team with Colin Sherriff taking on the role as vice president of operations and technology. Sherriff is responsible for overseeing ESPN STAR Sports’ region-wide operations and technology matters related to its television and broadband networks across Asia, in addition to the technical and operational development of several strategic new business initiatives. Sherriff leads the biggest department within the ESPN STAR Sports network, heading teams responsible for Engineering, Transmission, Studio Operations, Satellite Operations, Editing, Commercial Traffic, Facilities as well as Media Content Operations. Sherriff will report directly to Manu Sawhney, managing director, ESPN STAR Sports. With more than 30 years of experience and international expertise across a wide range of technologies, Sherriff joins ESPN STAR Sports from Television Systems Limited (UAE) where he was the general manager and was responsible for setting up TSL’s Middle East operations. Sheriff returns to ESPN STAR Sports from his earlier stint at ESS from 1997 to 2001 when he was the director of engineering. He started his career with Television New Zealand and since then has worked with various leading organizations across Asia and the Middle East such as STAR (Hong Kong), Taj TV (Dubai), Al Jazeera Int. (Qatar) and SONY Professional Solutions (UAE).
