BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, announced the appointment of Alice Hughes into the newly-created position of formats acquisitions manager. Reporting to Matt Paice, EVP, international production, Hughes will be charged with fostering new relationships with independent producers and rights holders internationally, to develop formats and concepts for BBC Worldwide’s production network and format licensing. Hughes moves into the role from her former position of senior sales executive at BBC Worldwide, in which she was responsible for sales of formats into EMEA, taking the format Dancing With The Stars into Scandinavia, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Middle East and Portugal. Prior to that Hughes worked as a sales executive for Test the Nation producer, Eyeworks, and in worldwide production at FremantleMedia on formats such as X-Factor, PokerFace and Idols.
