BBC Worldwide’s Sales & Distribution business in Asia has sold the hit series Sherlock to broadcasters in South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore. These are the first sales of the series, a Hartswood Films production for BBC co-produced with MASTERPIECE, in Asia. The licensees are: KBS, Korea’s leading public services broadcaster; PTS, the first independent public broadcaster in Taiwan; and multi-platform telecommunications company SingTel in Singapore. Joyce Yeung, SVP and GM Asia for BBC Worldwide Sales & Distribution said: “There has been huge growth in interest from Asia for British drama, and we’re extremely pleased to see this trend continue with three new sales of this flagship BBC series. “ Sherlock, a modern version of the iconic characters created by Arthur Conan Doyle and starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, is already a hugely successful show for BBC Worldwide, having been sold to more than 25 countries.
