Tokyo – The winners of this year’s Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prizes for outstanding television and radio programs were announced in Tokyo on 19 October 2010. This year’s host broadcaster was NHK, and the awards ceremony was held at NHK’s headquarters in conjunction with the ABU General Assembly. This year’s ABU Prize competition attracted 172 entries from 25 countries and regions. An ABU Prize was given to the best program in each category. Four NHK programs won ABU Prizes, and one NHK program won a Special Commendation. The winning programs are The Three Musketeers, Episode 20: The Chaotic Ball (TV Children); Discover Science: Let’s See the Speed of Sound (TV Youth); Miracle Body: Downhill Skiing – Race Against Fear (TV Sports); Revival (Radio Drama); and Rivals for the Gold (TV Sports) which won the Special Commendation.
