Hong Kong – Suspended TVB general manager Stephen Chan was granted leave by an Eastern Court magistrate in his corruption case to travel overseas to fulfill unspecified station responsibilities. The permission came after Chan, 51, appeared in court with co- defendants, Edthancy Tseng Pei-kun, 28, director of Idea Empire Advertising and Production, and Wilson Chan Wing-shuen, 63, TVB’s head of business development in the marketing and sales division, reports The Standard. The two Chans and Tseng face a total of eight charges. No pleas were entered, and acting principal magistrate Amanda Jane Woodcock adjourned the case until October 19 for mention in District Court. Meanwhile, Mona Fong Yat-wah, deputy chairwoman of TVB was seen attending a charity event held at the City University in Hong Kong on 22 September 2010. Fong, who was accompanied by the controller of TVB’s production resources division Virginia Lok Yee-ling and several other TVB senior officials, was seen chatting happily with guests at the event, according to local press. Fong, however, declined to comment when questioned by reporters if Stephen Chan will be reinstated.
