London – FremantleMedia announced that Hole In The Wall has become the first foreign format to be purchased by the China Central Television (CCTV) network’s flagship channel, CCTV1. The game show has launched in China on CCTV1 on 19 September 2010, airing as a 50 minute weekly show. Patrick Schult, CEO, FremantleMedia Asia said, “We are delighted to be working with CCTV1 on this ground breaking project. Hole In The Wall is a unique, creative and very entertaining game show which has been a phenomenal success around the world, and we’re very pleased to be launching the show in China in strong partnership with the premium channel of the CCTV family.” Hole In The Wall originated in Japan on the Fuji TV network in 2006. The fun, action-packed game show went on to become one of FremantleMedia’s fastest-selling formats and has now travelled to more than 40 countries. “Our game show staples are still an area of importance for us, providing quick low cost solutions to broadcasters,” Fotini Paraskakis, Director of Content, Asia of FremantleMedia Asia told Television Asia Plus. “In this genre, we will also be launching new shows, such as Face It, this October at MIPCOM and this has huge potential for Asia, as has Total Blackout, the Fremantle-Fuji TV co-development game show project.” “The big launch for 2011 will be X Factor and we expect a fast roll-out in 2011. We have absolutely no doubt that this will be a big hit across the region,” said Paraskakis.
