Endemol announced that its Asian operation and leading Indonesian broadcaster P.T. Indosiar Visual Mandiri (IVM) have signed their first deal together. IVM has commissioned Endemol Asia to produce a local version of the global hit game show 1 vs. 100. The 52 episode run will air three times a week on IVM from August this year. The 1 vs 100 format is already a hit in Asia with local versions produced in China, Korea and Vietnam, which are in their second, seventh, and fifth seasons respectively. Arjen van Mierlo, Endemol’s CEO of Asian Operations comments, “1 vs. 100 is one of numerous Endemol formats that are going from strength to strength in Asia and we plan to continue building on this. We’re also proud to be partnering for the first time with IVM, one of Indonesia’s largest and most popular networks and we hope that this will be the first of many hit shows that we bring to them.” Known locally in Indonesia as 1 LAWAN 100 (Satu Lawan Seratus), 1 vs 100 pits one player against 100 opponents. The player’s goal is to eliminate all the opposition by correctly answering questions, hoping that their challengers will answer incorrectly and be eliminated from the game. The battle continues until the very last opponent is defeated. Only then can they walk away with the money they have earned. So far, 1 vs. 100 has been locally produced in 38 countries throughout Asia, Europe, The Middle East, Latin America, the USA and Australia.
