Disney-ABC International Television is now Disney Media Distribution (DMD) Asia Pacific, announced Rob Gilby, senior vice president & managing director, Disney Media Distribution Asia Pacific. Disney Media Distribution (DMD) Asia Pacific is the integrated media distribution arm of The Walt Disney Company, responsible for the licensing of branded and non-branded content to all platforms including free-to-air, cable and satellite broadcasters, mobile, broadband and VOD platforms. “This change is part of a global integration to a common name, identity and purpose for all media distribution teams across The Walt Disney Company,” Gilby explained. Separately Greg Johnson has resigned his role as Hong Kong-based Vice President of Sales for Disney-ABC International Television to become Senior Vice President, Factual, Sales & Distribution for BBC Worldwide, Americas. Johnson will be based in New York and report to Matt Forde, EVP Sales & Co-Productions, BBC Worldwide, Americas. In his newly created role, Johnson will develop and implement a strategy for the BBC Factual business that fosters growth in the U.S. market. He’ll work closely with BBC in-house and indie producers, as well as broadcasters and key clients to spearhead sales and co-production opportunities for major factual projects with US partners.
