Beijing – Irdeto is anticipating continued China business growth on the back of government initiatives to accelerate the roll out of Triple Play services for the mainland pay-TV market. Following a recent speech by China’s Premier Wen Jiabao, a five year plan has been put in place that is expected to lead to new product trials and infrastructure development, bolstering available bandwidth and culminating in the roll out of a wide range of new consumer services such as IP TV and content delivery to mobile devices by 2015. Speaking at CCBN, China’s premier show for the digital TV and broadband network industries, Irdeto’s CEO Graham Kill said, “Chinese consumers are leading a rapid global transformation in the way that content is experienced anywhere and anytime. We see a strong interest in accessing content on the move – on mobile devices like laptops and smart phones, and people are increasingly enjoying the interactivity of IP TV which allows two-way communication and enables shopping, holiday booking, and even voting for a favorite talent show performer directly on the television screen. Irdeto’s comprehensive solutions are ideally suited to helping Chinese pay-TV operators develop and deliver this kind of new consumer service.”
