The Philippines – According to research from TNS Philippines for the period of 1 January to 31 December 2009, HBO is the highest rated English television channel in Manila for the second year running. In addition, the 10 most watched English movies on cable television in Manila in 2009 were all shown on HBO. In 2009, HBO surged ahead of its competitors as the cable channel with the highest average total day reach at 19%, almost 3% ahead of its closet competitor. During total day in 2009, HBO was also the no. 1 English television channel in Manila. This is the second consecutive year that HBO has retained its pole position with ratings also edging up 10% in 2009 compared to the previous year. Movies that Filipinos in Metro Manila enjoyed watching on television in 2009 that were shown on HBO included Hancock, The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor, Journey To The Centre Of The Earth, Iron Man and Rush Hour 3.
