Singapore – According to research from TNS Singapore, HBO is the highest rated cable television movie channel in Singapore during prime time (7pm-1am) and total day (24 hours) in 2009, making it the number one cable movie channel in Singapore that year. HBO recorded a staggering 85 per cent of the top 20 highest watched movies on cable television. The period of analysis by TNS Singapore was from 1 January to 31 December 2009. The Asian television premiere of Iron Man on HBO was the highest rated English programme among key English movie and general entertainment channels last year. In addition, with a Cable 4+ rating of 2.96 per cent, Iron Man was the highest rated English programme among key English movie channels in Singapore since 2006. A close second at 2.24 per cent was HBO’s dual-language airing of Kung Fu Panda. Other top movies watched in Singapore on HBO last year included Beowulf, Rush Hour 3, I Am Legend and Wanted. This year, HBO has lined up more content with the latest Hollywood blockbusters premiering for the first time on Asian television every Sunday at 9pm. Titles to look out for include the premiere of Eagle Eye on January 31, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa in February, which will be available in dual language, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in March.
