South Korean telco LG Dacom saw revenues from its IPTV service ‘myLGtv’ soar 76% in the third quarter of this year to reach KRW 8.35bn (US$ 7mn), having a positive impact on the operator’s overall profit for the period. The telco is one of three major IPTV operators in South Korea, which have collectively been given the aim of reaching 1mn subscribers by the end of the year. Regulatory impediments were lifted at the beginning of the year preventing the country’s IPTV operators from delivering live broadcast content on their services, having been previously restricted to offering video-on-demand. LG Dacom’s total revenue across all operations reached KRW 480.9bn for the third quarter of this year, up 17% year-on-year, while net profits rose 3.2% by the same comparison to reach KRW 42.4bn.
