Indonesia – PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) announced that it will now be launching IPTV in 2010. The service will be available initially in Jakarta before expanding to five other locations including Surabaya, Medan and Bali by 2011. Speaking at a news conference, Rinaldi Firmansyah, president of Telkom noted that the telco’s aim is to attract around 40 percent of the 8.7 million fixed-line subscribers after two to three years. The company has reportedly spent IDR 1 trillion (US$105 million) on upgrading its infrastructure to support the new service, which will initially offer VOD-only services.
