Kuala Lumpur – The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad (NSTP) and Media Prima Berhad (MPB) announced the appointments of new directors to their respective Boards. Joining the Board of NSTP are Dato’ Amrin Awaluddin as a non-independent, non-executive director and Dato’ Fateh Iskandar bin Tan Sri Dato’ Mohamed Mansor as an independent non-executive director. Fateh has also been appointed as an independent non-executive director to the Board of MPB. Amrin, who was appointed as the Group Managing Director of MPB effective 1 September 2009, was prior to this the Chief Operating Officer, MPB. Amrin assumed the position of Chief Financial Officer of Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Bhd (TV3) in November 2001 during which his responsibilities included implementing the restructuring and turnaround of TV3 and NSTP, playing a pivotal role in transforming MPB into the leading integrated media group that it is today. He was also involved in the acquisitions and restructurings of 8TV in 2003, ntv7, TV9, Hot FM and Fly FM in 2005 which contributed to the consolidation of the domestic TV industry and MPB’s maiden expansion into radio, as well as Big Tree Outdoor Sdn Bhd and the eventual consolidation of MPB’s outdoor business through the acquisitions of Utusan Pearl & Dean Sdn Bhd and The Right Channel Sdn Bhd. Amrin is the Vice Chairman of Content Forum Commission of Malaysia (CMCF) – a self-regulatory body to govern content and address content related issues in line with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Content Code – and a Board Member of Kuala Lumpur Business Club. Prior to joining TV3 and MPB, Amrin was with Amanah Merchant Bank Berhad, the Senior General Manager overseeing group finance and group corporate affairs at Renong Berhad, and the Chief Operating Officer of Putera Capital Berhad Fateh Iskandar, aged 41, is currently the Group Managing Director of Glomac Berhad, having joined the Glomac Group of Companies in 1991 and was appointed to the Board on 5 February 1997. He brings with him 19 years of experience and involvement in the property development and construction industry. Apart from sitting on the Board of several private limited companies, Fateh Iskandar also sits as a Board Member of Axis Reit Managers Berhad, the first REITs company to be listed on Bursa Malaysia as well as on the Board of Lembaga Perumahan & Hartanah Selangor, which governs property development and investment in the state of Selangor.
