Paris – Intelsat, provider of fixed satellite services, announced it signed a contract with GlobeCast for occasional use (OU) capacity that spans Intelsat’s entire satellite fleet. The multi-year contract offers GlobeCast increased satellite transmissions infrastructure to fulfill its customer needs for distribution of live sports, breaking news and special events. Recognizing the increased demand from broadcasters and content service providers for global distribution of special events, Intelsat has dedicated approximately 140 transponders across its entire fleet specifically to be used for OU services. Growing demand for HD services was a key driver for GlobeCast’s investment in this capacity, which will allow GlobeCast to service even more clients with top-notch sports and news coverage. In addition to transmission, GlobeCast provides ground services, including SNGs and flyaways, crewing and playout from around the globe.
