Singapore – NBC Universal Global Networks owned Asia channels – Universal, SCI FI and Hallmark – have secured a total of 34 nominations for the upcoming 61st Primetime Emmy Awards. Universal garners a total of five US television shows chalking up 21 nominations. The Office bags 11 nominations including ‘Outstanding Comedy Series,’ ‘Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series’ and ‘Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series.’ Law & Order franchise, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is also in the running with 4 Emmy nominees in the categories, ‘Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series’ and ‘Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series.’ Other Universal channel staple programs marked for wins include, House (3 nominations including ‘Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series’ for Hugh Laurie), Monk (2 nominations) and Criminal Minds (1 nomination). SCI FI has earned a total of 12 nominations with six shows in the running for the top Emmy honours. A SCI FI Original series, Battlestar Galactica leads with 6 nominations including ‘Outstanding Special Visual effects For A Series’ and ‘Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series.’ The show is up against other SCI FI channel choice programs like Heroes, Ghost Whisperer and another SCI FI Original Sanctuary, for the honours of ‘Outstanding Special Visual effects For A Series.’ Brand new fantasy action series, Legend of the Seeker, also earns its first Emmy nomination. Hallmark Channel’s ER has earned 2 nominations for ‘Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series’ and ‘Outstanding Directing For A Drama.’
