Hong Kong – Celestial Pictures announced the appointment of Ross Pollack to the position of Chief Executive Officer. Ross joins Celestial from Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), where he held a number of positions including SVP, sales planning for Sony Pictures international TV group (SPTI) in Los Angeles before relocating to HK in 2003 where he was initially responsible for the group’s regional business development. Since 2004 and until his move to Celestial Pictures, Ross would have been responsible for distribution of all Sony Pictures filmed entertainment, acquired products and produced content in Asia in his capacity as SVP, Distribution Asia. Ross will focus on developing and implementing strategies that will create additional value for the Shaw Brothers film library, Celestial Pictures’ channel bouquet, as well as the production and acquisition of new Chinese content for distribution on Astro’s platforms and into global markets.
