Malaysia – HBO series True Blood had the highest premiere for a series across Astro’s Movies Package. The premiere of the first four episodes screened back-to-back on the 24-hour commercial-free subscription channel MAX (Astro channel 412) peaked to a staggering 124,000 viewers that night, which is 93 percent share of Astro’s Movies Package audience. The premiere episodes on April 9 achieved a cumulative reach of 315,000 viewers that evening, while the second week of telecast on April 16 attracted 34 percent more viewers than the week prior, resulting in a cumulative reach of 736,000 viewers over the two weeks. With 78 percent of the viewers being men, True Blood also succeeded at attracting the coveted male audience, in line with the channel’s new positioning as a male-skewed channel that indulges viewers with genre-driven action, sci-fi and suspense programs.
