Singapore – CNBC Asia Pacific president and managing director Jeremy Pink becomes senior vice president business news at CNBC effective 8 June 2009. He fills the position vacated by Jonathan Wald end-March, heading off to CNBC’s Englewood Cliffs HQ this week, where he will be based from 8 June. In an internal memo, CNBC president Mark Hoffmann said that Tyler Mathisen will retain responsibility for business news during the transition period, before returning to his role as managing editor. Hoffmann describes “an extraordinarily strong veteran team in place in Asia that will allow us to manage seamlessly during this transitional period. Given that we want to build on the tremendous momentum we are experiencing in Asia, we have already initiated a search to replace Jeremy to ensure that CNBC continues to be the fastest growing source and most respected voice in business in Asia.” He continues, “Jeremy has done an outstanding job over the last three years as president and managing director of CNBC in Asia based in Singapore. His energetic and innovative approach led to record ratings and operating profit for our Asian franchise where his team built the foundation for long-term success.” Pink first joined CNBC as vice president of news and programming in Europe in 2000 before moving on to vice president of international news and programming based in the US and then to Singapore. Prior to joining CNBC, he worked in television in Asia, in digital media in New York and at CNN in New York and Atlanta. Pink holds an MBA from Duke University.
