Singapore – NBC Universal Global Networks will launch Universal Channel & SCI FI into Papua New Guinea from 1 March 2009. The announcement was made by Raymund Miranda, managing director, NBC Universal Global Networks Asia Pacific. Universal Channel & SCI FI will be available on the digital MMDS service owned by Hitron Ltd. With this announcement, Universal Channel is now available in six markets & SCI FI is now in seven countries in the Asia Pacific region. Hallmark Channel, another NBC Universal Global Networks owned channel, has been available on Hitron since 1999. Apart from Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia and Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea also has the full suite of four channel brands in the market – namely SCI FI, Universal, Hallmark and KidsCo. Hallmark Channel is in 20 countries and KidsCo broadcasts in 8 countries. This further channels debut comes just seven months after the company first launched the Pan Asia feed.
