Cannes – NHK is on the look-out for co-production partners in the factual entertainment space. A dinner held the evening of October 14, during MIPCOM 2008, saw NHK assemble many of the world’s best factual programming producers and present to them a number of projects for possible co-productions. Representatives from the likes of AETN International, BBC Worldwide, Caldecott Productions International (MediaCorp’s HD division), Discovery, KBS, National Geographic and Off the Fence were there as NHK’s executive managing director Hidemi Hyuga appealed for co-production partnerships on a number of projects in progress. “NHK has had a hard time financially, as many of you know, which is why I’m determined to get help in funding these projects. Demand for high-quality programming means we need better quality ideas, higher funding, and we need to work together.”
