Kuala Lumpur – MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd (MEASAT) announced that Gateway Communications, a leading provider of high quality satellite communication services in Africa, signed an agreement for C-Band capacity on the AFRICASAT-1 satellite. Under the agreement, Gateway will lease multiple C-band transponders on AFRICASAT-1, commencing October 2008. The capacity will further develop Gateway’s market leading position in the provision of high quality, secure and reliable voice, data and Internet access to its 1,200 corporate customers across 40 countries on the African continent. “MEASAT welcomes Gateway to our growing family of premium customers leveraging the AFRICASAT-1 platform for connectivity in the African region,”said Terry Bleakley, vice president, commercial operations, MEASAT. “We look forward to a long and successful cooperation with Gateway in expanding their broadband services.”
