Singapore – Under the Media Development Authority’s (MDA) INVIGORATE initiative, budding game developers will stand a chance to receive funding of up to S$50,000 to develop game prototypes that can lead to commercialization. MDA is inviting game developers to submit proposals under the initiative between 1 July and 8 August 2008. Launched in 2006, INVIGORATE aims to spur development of innovative video games that can be commercialized for the world market. Previously focused on mobile and casual games, INVIGORATE 2008 will focus on innovative game designs for multi-platform applications – games that can be played on the Personal Computers (PCs), Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), mobile phones, online and game consoles. The call will identify 10 project teams to undergo a rigorous programme of product planning, game design and production management training by experienced game professionals in a masterclass environment. The ‘gurus’ are representatives from established game studios & publishers such as Ubisoft Singapore, Nabi Studios and Boomzap. At the end of the incubation period, the teams are expected to produce a playable game demo by the end of February 2009.
