Hong Kong – The Walt Disney Company’s international TV distribution arm, Disney-ABC International Television (Asia Pacific), has closed a content deal with Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom for current movies and TV series to be made available on Chunghwa’s Multimedia On-Demand (MOD) IPTV VOD service. The deal, facilitated by Deltamac Taiwan, includes dramas such as Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives and Lost, along with current and library movies from Walt Disney Pictures, Disney/Pixar, Touchstone Pictures and Miramax Films including Pirates of The Caribbean: At World’s End, Ratatouille, Cars, National Treasure and Meet the Robinsons, as well as Disney’s Chinese co-production The Magic Gourd, all to be available on-demand to Chunghwa’s MOD subscribers. Disney-ABC International Television’s (Asia Pacific) content adds to Chunghwa Telecom’s deal with Granada International for some 300 hours of HD programming, also made available on its MOD service which is expected to draw a subscriber base of 500,000 by June 2008.
