Singapore – National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) and the National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (FINAS) will extend their partnership in ‘Malaysia to the World 2’, a returning initiative to commission one-hour original HD documentaries to showcase the country and to encourage local filmmaking talents. ‘Malaysia to the World 2’ will see two new documentaries produced under an additional grant of US$400,000, and follows Becoming A King and Smart Tunnel documentaries produced under the initial initiative started by NGCI and FINAS in 2006. NGCI is also calling for entries from all Malaysia-based production companies with the closing date for submission set for May 31, 2008. Completed documentaries will air globally on NGCI’s network to 270 million homes across 166 countries. According to Astro, Malaysia to the World’s Becoming a King was the most watched documentary across all international factual entertainment channels in Malaysia for the week of August 27-September 2, 2007.
