London – BBC World is bringing a host of British shows to MIPTV, following from £216million generated from sales of programmes and a further £53million from formats and local productions in 2006/2007. The Fixer, currently airing on ITV, sees its characters delve into the sinister underbelly of the police force. Kiss of Death is a drama investigating a mysterious murder by weaving together stories of various protagonists and is slated to debut on BBC One. Contemporary dramas include Mistresses which was sold to 12 broadcasters in 12 markets following its launch at BBC Showcase. Also available are Ashes to Ashes and period dramas Lark Rise to Candleford, Jekyll and Oliver Twist. Cranford, a show sold to seven international broadcasters in seven markets will also feature. Natural history highlights include David Attenborough’s Life in Cold Blood and co-production Wild China which is set to air in 2008 in the run up to the Beijing Olympics. Also to be showcased are new British comedies including Never Better and Gavin and Stacey. Science programming includes Moonshot which celebrates the 40th anniversary of the lunar landing, as well as Oceans and Earth: The Power of the Planet which uses new production techniques and dramatic narrative to explain the history of Earth. Children’s shows are In the Night Garden and Animalia, while formats available include The Weakest Link’s BBC2 replacement quiz show Brainbox and BBC3’s model talent search show Find me the Face.
