Hong Kong – PCCW’s IPTV service now TV will debut on April 9, 2008, China Business Network (CBN), a China-focused financial information channel (channel 338), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shanghai Media Group (SMG). The agreement was inked between the partners March 5 in Shanghai. CBN is a mainland China multimedia service provider offering financial information in real time to Chinese investors worldwide. The channel provides 12 hours of live programming each day and will add to now TV’s existing financial news lineup which includes BBC, CNN, CNBC and Bloomberg TV as well as now TV’s own Business News Channel. PCCW’s managing director, television & content, Dominic Leung, said, “The demand for financial information in Hong Kong is always high, and the H and A Share markets are intimately connected. First-hand information on the economy and capital market development in mainland China is extremely valuable to investors in Hong Kong.” CBN’s program highlights include Stock of the Day, Brainstorm, Meeting the Elite, Bosses’ Place and Observe the Economy. The channel aims to provide a platform for economic, financial and trade co-operation between businesses in Hong Kong and mainland China.
