Hong Kong – National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) and Taiwan’s Government Information Office (GIO) have partnered for the global premiere of the second season of Taiwan to the World, airing every Sunday exclusively on National Geographic Channel from March 2, 2008. The series will broadcast in NGCI’s other territories later. Taiwan to the World is the only NGCI-GIO documentary production initiative in Taiwan that reaches a global audience. Produced by local filmmakers under the supervision of NGCI’s Asian-based production team, Taiwan to the World season 2 consists of 5 x 60” original programming featuring diverse contemporary subjects concerning Taiwan, including breeding of transgenic florescent pigs, martial arts, cricket fighting, and endangered Taiwanese black bears. Bryan Smith, executive vice president of production at NGCI said, “National Geographic Channel viewers from around the world have always been fascinated with inspiring stories from Asia and Taiwan. With the second season of Taiwan to the World, we applaud the first-rate creativity and production capability of the Taiwanese producers as they invite viewers to rethink the way we understand our modern world”.
