Singapore – StarHub has won the exclusive broadcast rights to the 2008 UEFA European Football Championship (EURO 2008) to take place in Austria and Switzerland, from June 7 – 29, 2008. Rights cover live telecasts of all 31 matches from group phase to the final, as well as opening and closing ceremonies. The pay-TV operator is also planning to offer all EURO 2008 matches in HD. Adit Harinasuta, Head, Services & Solutions, StarHub said, “This win further augments StarHub’s standing as the best sports content provider in Singapore. We will certainly look at ways to maximise our customers’ UEFA EURO 2008 experience across our pay-TV, mobile and online platforms.” StarHub’s rights to EURO 2008 add to exclusive broadcast rights to three seasons of the Barclays Premier League (BPL) football in Singapore which commenced in the current season. The number of dedicated sports channels offered by StarHub is currently 10 while selected sports events are available on its Pay-Per-View and Demand TV platforms. Details on StarHub’s EURO 2008 offerings will be announced at a later date.
