Paris – MIPTV featuring MILIA, to be held in Cannes from April 7-11, 2008 will focus on ‘green’ issues with David de Rothschild, Kevin Wall and Yann Arthus-Bertrand featuring in debates and events focusing on the role of media in the fight against global warming. David de Rothschild, British adventurer, environmentalist and author will be presenting on Nick’s Big Green Thing, his collaborative multimedia effort with kids’ channel Nickelodeon UK. The project is a series of ecological programmes for younger audiences scheduled to launch February 2008. Kevin Wall, founder and CEO of Live Earth and Control Room (USA), a producer and distributor of live music entertainment, will deliver a keynote detailing the unprecedented media architecture which staged and broadcast the Live Earth concerts to more than two billion viewers worldwide. Held July 7, 2007, Live Earth featured 150 performers on nine stages across seven continents to raise awareness for the climate crisis. Yann Arthus-Bertrand, French photographer and producer of documentary series Vu du Ciel (Earth from Above), will be involved in a debate entitled ‘TV production: How to Make it Green?’ to explore ways to make programmes in more environmentally-friendly ways. Also, on MIPTV’s ‘Green Day’ on April 7, Japanese pubcaster NHK will receive the Green World Award, presented as a tribute to the network’s commitment to raising public awareness of environmental issues over the last 50 years.
