Mumbai/Hong Kong – STAR India and DEN Digital Entertainment Networks Pvt Ltd have partnered to create a platform to distribute TV channels in India via fixed networks including cable, DTH, IPTV, HITS and MMDS. The 50:50 joint venture will be headquartered in Mumbai. Under the agreement, the JV will be an exclusive distributor for all channels distributed domestically by STAR India. The bouquet currently includes Star Plus, Star One, Star Gold, Vijay, Star Utsav, Star News, Star Ananda, Star Majha, Channel [V], National Geographic Channel, National Geographic Adventure, The History Channel, Disney, Toon Disney, Hungama, Zoom and Times Now. The new setup will also expand its bouquet offerings by distributing third party channels. Uday Shankar, CEO, STAR India said, ““It is an important growth initiative in the distribution platform business and enables us to better harness the growth opportunity. We are pleased to tie up with a group of professionals who we find are strategically aligned to our vision of this business and its growth prospects.” DEN is a cable network company with a pan-Indian footprint. Targeting to drive digitization in the cable distribution system, the company is currently undergoing upgrading to deliver digital entertainment that goes beyond TV channels to include value-added interactive services. The company is led by founders Sameer Manchanda and Raghav Behl as well as Anuj Gandhi, CEO and S.N. Sharma, President.
