Tokyo – The New Media Group, KK, (TNMG) a Japan headquartered digital media platform developer and operator in Asia Pacific, and Portugese pubcaster, Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP), have launched the RPT Group`s flagship channel, RPTi, in Japan and East Asia on TNMG`s IPTV platform, World On-Demand. TNMG will also launch the channel on its Australia service via Telstra in Q1 2008 as well as co-develop additional collaborative channels with RTP. Separately, the TNMG has made several new appointments to its Tokyo office. Ryuzo Akano has joined TNMG as Vice-President, Marketing, to be responsible for the company’s marketing strategies, with a focus on electronic marketing. He joins from Viacom International where he was the Japan CMO responsible for launching FLUX as well as the MTV and Nickelodeon web presence and mobile sites. Akano has also served as corporate director of Teacup Communications, Co. Ltd. Fumiko Ito has been named as Senior Manager, Marketing and will oversee the company`s World Music Pack and Language Edu-tainment products on all platforms. Ito’s 11 years experience in educational publishing and the digital mobile industry include being Senior Publisher at Pearson Education Japan (PEJ), and Digital Contents Producer at Quattro Media Corporation (QMC) where she was responsible for creation and operation of music and game websites for mobile phones. Satoru Kurumisawa has been appointed as Vice-President, Business Development and Senior Advisor to lead a team of 4 in the acquisition of Japanese content, platform development for Japanese living overseas, and hotel channel development. Kurumisawa was Vice-President responsible for the business plan and launch of Yahoo BB TV and Club IT in Japan. Mark Rogers has joined TNMG as Vice-President, Engineering and will oversee the company’s product delivery systems. He was most recently Vice-President of Systems at Value Commerce where he was required to maintain heavy traffic growth with very low latency requirements.
