National Geographic Television International (NGTI) has closed a slew of new deals with Asian broadcasters. China’s CCTV acquired 1 X 52″ factual titles including NGT’s wildlife show Ultimate Viper, biblical history show Secret Jesus (1 X 52″), current affairs title The World’s Most Dangerous Drug and science show Human Voltage: Struck by Lightning. CCTV also picked up shows from two independent producers represented by NGTI, The Human Footprint (1 x 52) from UK’s Touch Productions and series When Weather Changed History (10 x 48″) from US’ Towers Productions. Hong Kong’s ATV acquired a back catalogue package for its digital channel, including natural disasters series Catastrophe (4 x 52″) and Snake Wranglers (26 X 26″). In Korea, Q Channel took 1 X 52″ wildlife programmes Red Velvet from Compass Films, Vanishing Dragon from Abyss Productions and Bad Boy Monkeys from NGT. KBS picked up wildlife and history programmes including Gabon: Triumph of the Wild and Nefertiti and the Lost Dynasty. Singapore’s Mediacorp TV12 picked up NGT’s Ultimate Viper and Jellyfish Invasion for its newly-launched wildlife slot. Philippines’ GMA and Vietnam’s HTV acquired natural history series Totally Wild (26 x 24″), with the former also picking up Amazing Moments (3 x 52″), a series that brings together captivating moments from National Geographic’s film archives.
