CNN has opened its new editorial operations in Chennai, India, and appointed Sara Sidner and Liz Neisloss as its two new India-based correspondents. Sidner will join CNN from Jan 2008 and is currently the weekend news anchor and field reporter at KTVU-TV in San Francisco / Oakland. Neisloss has joined CNN in Chennai and will cover southern India as well as support the CNN bureau in New Delhi. Neisloss was a CNN senior producer from 1990 to 2006. The new setup in South India increases CNN’s presence in the country, adding to its bureau in New Delhi as well as its English news channel CNN-IBN, the network’s JV with Global Broadcast News. The new editorial operations is part of the multi-million dollar investment that CNN announced in Nov. 2007 to expand editorial resources and correspondents worldwide. New operations are also planned for Afghanistan, Belgium, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, the Philippines, Poland and Vietnam.
