San Francisco – iThentic and ITVS International announced eight international filmmakers selected for their first online and mobile collaboration entitled Global Mobile. The focus of this series of short films is food with the filmmakers creating works under 3 minutes in running time to best capture the theme within their own cultural context. From Asia Pacific, Amlan Datta, based in Kolkata, India, has produced Cock-A-Doodle-Do, a story of a rooster who gives up country life for the big city with dire consequences. Gef Senz from Australia and Maung Maung Aye from Burma co-produced Hungry for Freedom, a Burmese cooking segment demonstrating how a traditional Burmese pumpkin curry is cooked while exploring the dire political situation in Burma. Other filmmakers include Heidi Fleisher (USA/France) and Lionel Brouet (France) who produced Amuse-Bouche; Natalie Glanville-Wallis (UK) and Serge Ferrand (France) with The Power of Chillies; Olaf De Fleur Johanneson (Iceland) produced A King of His Own; Khalo Matabane (South Africa) made Street Kid & Food (working title); Marcela Said (Chile) produced Divine Food; and Jorien Van Nes (Netherlands) made Bio-Pig.
