Singapore– ESPN Star Sports is providing coverage of the 2007 Special Olympic World Summer Games in Shanghai across Asia for the first time starting from October 2. The sporting event is being held for the first time in Asia and the second time outside the US, with 30,000 athletes and officials from 175 countries participating. ESPN STAR Sports will feature highlights on its ESPN and STAR Sports channels throughout Asia, which include the live broadcast of the opening ceremony on October 2 at 1900HKT for China and 2100HKT for the rest of Asia, on STAR Sports. Daily highlights will be shown on weekdays on SportsCenter Asia news bulletins at 2200HKT on ESPN and a one-hour post-Games highlight special on October 18 on STAR Sports. Manu Sawhney, Managing Director, ESPN STAR Sports said: “With 17 networks across 24 countries, ESPN STAR Sports is well-positioned to deliver the Special Olympics’ message of acceptance and inclusion of its athletes and bring greater awareness across markets in Asia.”
