Australia’s Great Western Entertainment (GWE), Canada’s Brightlight Pictures and Singapore’s TheatreRed are co-producing 26 x 30’ live action kids/family sci-fi series Stormworld under GWE’s WiKKiD.tv brand. Stormworld follows the adventures of two Canadian boys transported into a parallel universe. Production will begin in January 2008, directed by Mark DeFriest and Edward McQueen-Mason. Principal photography will take place in Perth, Singapore, Vancouver and Kimberley coast in North-West Australia. Worldwide distribution of Stormworld is handled by Monaco’s Daro Film Distribution. The company confirmed pre-sales of the series to Ireland, Romania and Hungary; the series will be launched at MIPTV in April 2009. The Film Finance Corp. of Australia, the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA), TheatreRed, ScreenWest and Lotterywest (WA) are financing the co-production. Australia’s Nine Network and ABC-TV, Disney Channel Australia and Canada’s CTV (Space Channel) are also aboard.
