London– Universal Pictures International Entertainment (UPIE), the international home entertainment division of NBC Universal (NBCU), has announced promotions to its London-based management team. Melanie Nicholas has been upped to Senior Vice President, Marketing to lead international marketing initiatives for home entertainment outside the US, in addition to her responsibilities for international licensees and Russia. Egor Borisov, Managing Director of Universal Pictures Russia, continues to report to her. Nicholas was Vice President, Licensees & Emerging Markets, and has led UPIE to triple its licensee revenues, set up Universal Pictures Russia and clinched a reciprocal home entertainment distribution agreement with Warner Brothers in Russia and China. Nicholas’ promotion follows Executive Vice President, Commercial, Wayne Borg’s decision to relinquish his role in marketing, sales and digital. Remaining with UPIE until the end of 2007, Borg will drive HD strategy, particularly for UPIE’s commitment to HD-DVD.
