Singapore- Michael Yap, the Deputy CEO of the Media Development Authority and Executive Director of the Interactive Digital Media R&D Program, will speak at the X|Media|Lab Singapore’s Pro Day Conference this Friday Sept. 28 at NTU’s Art, Design, and Media building. Yap will outline the strategies and priorities of the IDM Program, Singapore’s S$500 million digital media and R&D investment fund. A record 16 companies and project teams have been selected for the Singapore Lab, hailing from six countries: Singapore, Australia, India, Canada, Finland, and, the first ever X|Media|Lab projects from China. The digital media project ideas range from an ambient audiovisual IPTV channel; an inter-media arts project for kids; a cross-cultural, cross-platform interactive training media project for aid and development; an interactive journey into the hidden world of fairytales; a Singapore project incorporating video display as part of the architecture of a building’s interior; the fastest 3D animation pipeline in the world from Finland; and an astounding real 3-D animation of a treasured linear scroll vivifying ancient Suzhou art.
