Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific has upped Ian Carroll to Executive Vice President from Senior Vice President & General Manager. The promotion reflects his move to a broader strategic role in Turner as he heads the company’s foray into new areas of business and identifies opportunities for the network to reach a wider audience in Asia, while retaining oversight of content sales and business development. Carroll joined Turner as a regional counsel in 1998, was promoted to Vice President of Business Affairs in 1999, then appointed Senior Vice President and General Manager with responsibilities expanded to include content sales, marketing and business development. Prior to joining Turner, Carroll worked at Denton Hall in Hong Kong and Allen, Allen & Hemsley in Sydney. Noting the company’s growth from two networks in 1998 to 17 channels, 17 websites and various mobile services in the region, Steve Marcopoto, President and Managing Director, said there is still “significant room” for growth and that Turner is dedicating its “most senior executive resources to this pivotal task”.
