Kuala Lumpur- MDeC’s inaugural Buyer Fly-In Program concluded with 23 Memorandums of Agreement (MoA) for content co-production and development worth some RM385 million ($US110.4 million) signed between Malaysian companies and buyers from US, Europe and Asia at the 3-day event which commenced on August 22. In addition to 9 MoAs signed by Malaysia’s Rocket Fish with partners from the US, Ireland, Hungary and Singapore, Marcera Technology formalized deals with Hong Kong-based Moffy Ltd, China Digital Entertainment Alliance and Mobile Telecom Networks (Holdings) Ltd and Thailand’s Imagimax Co. Ltd., while Evo Pictures inked MoAs with Hong Kong-based Cine Century Entertainment and Ace Hero Films & Entertainment Co. Ltd. Deals were also signed by Malaysia’s Vision New Media and Netcarbon with their partners. While almost all the deals sealed have been initiated at content markets MIPTV and Hong Kong Filmart that took place earlier this year, the formation of Tripod Entertainment by Malaysia’s Elemental Ventures, Korea’s Sun Min Image Pictures, and US-based Kevin Eastman Studios stood out as a collaboration struck at the event.
