Hong Kong- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has awarded the Hong Kong internet and mobile TV rights to the Beijing Olympics to Wharf TV’s i-Cable Sports Limited. i-Cable Sports Limited also acquired exclusive Hong Kong rights across all media platforms for the Olympic Games in Vancouver in 2010 and London in 2012. The free-to-air rights to the Beijing Games had already been secured by TVB and ATV through the Asian Broadcasting Union. The IOC said it had assessed i-Cable on its capacity to reach the broadest possible audience on a variety of broadcast platforms and its commitment to promoting the Olympic Games and the values of the Olympic movement. i-Cable also demonstrated a clear ability to meet the highest standards in Internet and broadcast quality and security. IOC President Jacques Rogge said “Our aim is to ensure that as many people as possible are able to enjoy the Olympic Games on all broadcast platforms and we look forward to working closely with i-CABLE to make this possible in Hong Kong”.
