Singapore– The Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) and the Korea Culture & Content Agency (KOCCA) have inked an MOU to co-develop local creative content industries including media and digital media sectors by offering developmental programs and facilitating access to the global market. The agreement is expected to generate co-productions, training exchanges and joint marketing of content from Singaporean and Korean media companies. The MOU extends from four collaborations between agencies representing the broadcast and film sectors from 2005: a co-production agreement between MDA and the Korean Broadcasting Commission (KBC) signed on June 21, 2007; an MOU between MDA and KBC signed on January 19, 2005; a media co-operation agreement with the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) in December 2005; as well as an MOU on media co-operation with the Korean Broadcasting Institute concurrent with the Shanghai TV Festival in June 2006. The arrangement between MDA and KBI saw three HD projects commissioned to Singapore and Korean producers at the Asian Media Festival in November 2006, slated for international distribution at the end of 2007.
