Sydney—Australian viewers can look forward to seeing more U.S. series on the heels of their U.S. debuts. Foxtel said it will screen 20th Century Fox series The Rules for Starting Over and K-Ville within days of their U.S. broadcast. This follows the Seven Network’s recent announcement it would air the next series of Prison Break and Heroes later this year directly after their U.S. premieres. Foxtel was quick to point out it first flagged the “day and date” strategy in May 2006, when the Fox/Foxtel/Network Ten deal was announced. The Rules for Starting Over is a comedy from the Farrelly Brothers, looking at a group of newly single friends who learn to start over in their 30s; K-Ville is a police drama set in New Orleans from writer and executive producer Jonathan Lisco (NYPD Blue, The District). Foxtel also secured exclusive Australian rights to Warner Bros.’ Gossip Girl, a drama set on Manhattan’s Upper East Side which focuses on the lives of a group of privileged prep school teens who learn all the important news of their lives from the secretive, all-knowing Gossip Girl.
